Select the grease to be used for lubrication

Are all guards in place if lubrication is performed while the fan is operating?

Add grease to the fan bearings while running the fan or rotating the shaft by hand

Is there a slight purging at the seals after adding grease?

Ensure fan bearings are not completely filled to avoid overheating

Refer to motor manufacturer's installation and maintenance manual for motor bearing lubrication information

Note any deviations from the manufacturer's recommendations

Verify the following components

Has the belt tension been rechecked after several days of operation?

Inspect if the belts have stretched after installation

Ensure electrical supply is completely disconnected and locked out

Check the V-belt drive for proper alignment and tension

Check belt tension with a tensioning gage

Adjust belt tension using the motor slide base

Replace worn belts as a set, matched to within manufacturer's tolerances

Check sheave alignment using a straightedge

Check for gaps between the straightedge and sheave faces

Ensure electrical supply is disconnected and locked out

Block the rotating assembly securely

Inspect fan wheel for wear or corrosion

Check for build-up of material on the fan wheel

Is cleaning or replacement of the wheel required?

Clean or replace the wheel as required

Ensure fan hub is not removed or loosened from the fan wheel

Ensure all safety guards are installed

Verify all moving parts have guards to protect personnel

Check setscrews and bolts for tightness during routine maintenance

Inspect installation for loose items or debris that could be drawn into the fan or dislodged by the fan discharge

Turn the wheel by hand to check for binding
