Fan Bolts Tightness Inspection
Fan Maintenance
Ensure the electrical supply is completely disconnected and locked out
Check all setscrews and bolts for tightness
Refer to the corresponding table for correct torques
Recheck setscrews after operation
Refer to Table 1 for wheel setscrew torques
Refer to Table 2 for bearing setscrew torques
Shut down the fan if there is any sudden increase in fan vibration
Safety Guards Inspection
MOVING PARTS / FAN MAINTENANCE
Check for damaged or missing guards
Ensure all moving parts have guards to protect personnel
Check all setscrews and bolts for tightness during routine maintenance
Inspect the installation for loose items or debris
Check the interior of the fan
Turn the wheel by hand to check for binding
Split Pillowblock Bearing Maintenance
BEARINGS — Lubrication
Remove the bearing cap
Clean out old grease
Repack the bearing with fresh grease
Pack the bearing fully and fill the housing reservoir to the bottom of the shaft on both sides of the bearing
Replace the bearing cap, being careful not to mix caps, as they are not interchangeable from one bearing to another
WARNING — Do not over lubricate split pillowblock bearings

Ensure electrical supply is completely disconnected and locked out
Block the rotating assembly securely
Check the fan wheel for wear or corrosion
Check for build-up of material on the fan wheel
Clean or replace the fan wheel as required
Ensure the fan hub is not removed or loosened from the fan wheel
V-Belt Drive Inspection
Pre-maintenance safety check
Ensure electrical supply is completely disconnected and locked out
V-Belt Drive Inspection
Check the V-belt drive for proper alignment and tension
Measure belt tension using a tensioning gage
Adjust belt tension using the motor slide base
Check sheave alignment with a straightedge
Inspect for any gap between the edge and sheave faces
Check setscrew and/or bushing bolt tightness
