2 Weekly Bearing Shaft Maintenance
Applies during long-term or outdoor storage only
Storage — Bearings / Storage
Regrease mounted bearings and wrap with plastic for protection
Ensure split housed bearings have additional grease to fill the bearing housing cavity
Rotate the fan wheel and motor shaft by hand to redistribute grease on internal bearing parts
Use caution when purging to avoid excessive pressure that can damage the seals
Rotate the shaft while slowly adding grease
Fan Bolts Tightness Inspection

Ensure electrical supply is disconnected and locked out
Check all setscrews and bolts for tightness
Refer to the corresponding table for correct torques
Recheck setscrews after operation
Refer to Table 1 for wheel setscrew torques
Refer to Table 2 for bearing setscrew torques
Shut down fan if there is a sudden increase in vibration
Coupling Maintenance
COUPLING — Alignment
Lubricate the coupling of direct-drive units and check for alignment
Refer to manufacturer's installation and maintenance supplement for lubrication details and alignment tolerances
Recheck alignment and gap after a short period of operation
Recheck the tightness of all fasteners in the coupling assembly
Check coupling alignment after permanent installation and prior to start up
Align the coupling to within the manufacturer's limits for parallel and angular misalignment
Post Maintenance Verification
Is the coupling aligned within the manufacturer's specified limits?
V-Belt Drive Inspection
FAN MAINTENANCE / V-BELT DRIVE
Ensure electrical supply is disconnected and locked out
Check the V-belt drive for proper alignment and tension
Check belt tension with a tensioning gage
Adjust belt tension using the motor slide base
Replace worn belts as a set, matched to manufacturer's tolerances
Check sheave alignment with a straightedge
Check setscrew and/or bushing bolt tightness
Fan Wheel Inspection
Fan Maintenance
Ensure electrical supply is completely disconnected and locked out
Block the rotating assembly securely
Inspect the fan wheel for wear or corrosion
Check for build-up of material on the fan wheel
Is cleaning or replacement of the fan wheel required?
Clean or replace the fan wheel as required
Ensure the fan hub is not removed or loosened from the fan wheel
