Air Filter Replacement

Do not attempt to wash or clean the elements, they must only be renewed.

A new inner element must be installed at least every other time the outer element is changed. As a reminder, mark the inner element with marker pen each time the outer element is changed.

1. Make the machine safe. Refer to (PIL 01-03).

2. Get access to the engine.

Check mark

3. Depress the clips and lift off the cover.

Check mark

4. Remove the outer element. Take care not to tap or knock the element.

Check mark

5. If the inner element is to be changed, lift up pulls and remove the inner element.

Crankcase Ventilation Filter Replacement

Check mark

Make the machine safe. Refer to (PIL 01-03).

Check mark

Get access to the engine. Refer to (PIL 06-06).

Check mark

Rotate the filter cover anti-clockwise and remove.

Check mark

Lift out the filter element and discard it.

Check mark

Clean the inside of the filter housing. Remove all oil and sludge contamination.

Check mark

Make sure that the oil drain in the bottom of the filter housing is not blocked with sludge.

Check mark

Install a new filter element. Make sure that the correct type of filter element is installed.

Check mark

Align the arrows on both parts to install the filter cover.

Sign off on the filter replacement

Air Filter Check

Check mark

The air filter element (s) should be changed at the recommended service interval, refer to the Maintenance Schedules. Refer to: PIL 78-24.

Check all the hose connections for loose installations and damaged hose clamps

Check mark

Look specifically for splits or cracks in the hoses

Check mark

Pay particular attention to the connections on the air intake to turbo compressor and on the crossover tube.

Check mark

Renew any damaged components.

Check mark

In addition, most air filter housings will be installed with a vacuum switch. The switch will detect if there is a restriction on the air intake, and activate warning indicators such as an audible alarm and/or a visual indicator.
