1 Yearly Boom Sequencing Chains Adjustment
Adjust the Boom Sequencing Chains - GTH-636 and GTH-844
Raise the boom to the horizontal position
Extend the boom fully, then retract the boom approximately 1 inch / 25 mm
Estimate the center on either side of the middle boom section and place one end of a tape measure on the top surface of the boom directly above the estimated center
Select a reference point on the sequencing chain and measure the distance between the chain and the top surface of the boom (Measurement 1)
Move to the fork end of the same boom section and measure the distance between the top surface of the boom and the same reference point used on the sequencing chain (Measurement 2)
Result of measurement comparison
Chain Adjustment (if needed)
Locate the adjustable chain anchor on the top of the boom section at the fork end
3 Monthly Fork Level, Auxiliary Hydraulic Hoses Tension Inspection
Preparation
Fully retract the boom
Fully lower the tips of the lifting forks
Remove the cover from the fork end of the boom
Inspection
Inspect the fork level and/or auxiliary hydraulic hoses for proper tension
Result Evaluation
Do the hoses rest on the boom tube or have an unequal amount of droop?
Refer to the appropriate Service and Repair Manual for repair procedure, How to Adjust the Fork Level and Auxiliary Hydraulic Hose Tension
3 Monthly Sequencing Chains Inspection
Preparation
Park the machine on a firm level surface, level the boom and engage the parking brake
Fully extend the boom
Inspection of Chains
Inspect the chains for elongation
Measure 16 pitches of the extend chain for machines using BL666 chain
Is the distance 12.36 inches / 313 mm or less for BL666 chain?
Measure the pitch of the boom extend chains (boom lower section) for GTH-1256 and GTH-1544 models
Measure the pitch of the boom retract chains (boom upper section) for GTH-1544 model
