Inspect battery condition using a torch if necessary

Are there any severe dents or leaks on the battery?

Ensure all load is removed before disconnecting the battery

Disconnect the negative cable first

Remove the hold-down clamp or strap securing the battery base

Inspect the condition of the alternator winding

Inspect the cable connections between the alternator and the circuit breaker

Consult local Dealer for further guidance

Ensure the generator set is stopped and there are no active or present shutdown conditions.

Priming with Fuel Supply from the Base Tank

Operate the priming switch for the standard pre-set 2 minute priming cycle (Main Menu > Control > Engine Fuel Priming on PowerWizard panel).

Did the engine start within 3 crank cycles?

Repeat the prime procedure if the engine did not start within 3 crank cycles.

Priming with Fuel Supply from a Remote Tank

Applicable to Perkins 1506, 2206, 2506, 2806 engines fitted with pre-filter / water separator

Ensure the drain valve is tightened securely to prevent air from entering the fuel system

Open drain valve (2) and catch the draining water in a suitable container

Ensure generator set is not scheduled for any other maintenance activities

Check fuel level in the generator

Inspect oil level and top up if necessary

Verify coolant level is adequate

Record initial generator load percentage

Is the generator load at least 50%?

Start time of the generator load test
