Turn the main electrical disconnect switch to the burner to 'Off'.

Is the burner operating in a damp environment?

Cover the burner with plastic to protect all electrical components from moisture.

Remove burner control and store in a dry area.

Turn the adjusting screw to adjust pilot gas pressure

Obtain DC volt or microamp reading of the flame signal

Use the flame safeguard amplifier meter jack for reading

Initial Startup and Maintenance Tests

Verify burner information from data plate

Have pre-startup tasks and checklist been completed?

Enter the current manifold pressure reading

Calculate the correct manifold pressure at maximum firing rate

Gauges, Monitors, and Indicators

Make visual inspection of the following

Record temperature monitor reading

Record fuel level indicator reading

Instrument and Equipment Settings

Visually check settings against recommended specifications for

Low Water, Fuel Cutoff, and Alarms

Are all alarms functioning correctly?

Check proper operation of the motorized gas valve.

Clean the outer parts of the valve(s), especially the stem.

Is there any oil noticed around the operator base or leakage?

Is the actuator sluggish or failing to operate?

Inspect valve stem for nicks, scores, or damage.

Is the valve stem causing leakage?
