Ensure FGR valve is nearly closed

Start burner and hold at low-fire until boiler reaches proper operating pressure or temperature

Adjust FGR valve cam screw to obtain <30 ppm NOx levels

Monitor O2 and CO levels during adjustment

Adjust air damper blades if necessary to raise O2 to proper low-fire values

Adjust FGR linkage if proper NOx values cannot be reached by cam screw adjustment

Continue adjusting cam at each screw to obtain proper NOx values

Ensure the modulating motor can complete its full travel range

Verify there are no restrictions in the linkage that could damage the motor or linkage

Set the modulating motor to the low-fire position

Adjust lever and rod with the motor in low-fire position

Ensure the rod is as parallel as possible with the lever for optimal movement

Adjust the angles of the driven levers on the jackshaft to vary the rate of change

Adjust the lever length on the damper, metering unit, and valve(s) to decrease flow rate

Inspect all controls, connecting piping, wiring, and fastenings

Measure carbon dioxide (CO2) levels

Measure carbon monoxide (CO) levels

Is the air-fuel ratio optimal based on flue gas analysis?

Leave the gas pilot shutoff cock open

Did the pilot light upon completion of the pre-purge period?

Were the main fuel valves energized without main flame?

Did the fuel valves de-energize within four seconds after the main burner ignition trial ends?

Burner Mounting Flange Inspection

Check tightness of burner mounting flange

Check tightness of burner drawer

Check tightness of handhole plates on upper drum

Check tightness of handhole plates on lower drum

Sight Glass Inspection (Steam Only)

Check for leaks around sight glass packing nuts
