Is there a faint hum from the solenoid when the coil is energized?

Check for voltage at the valve coil

Is there voltage at the valve coil?

If no voltage, check for the following issues

If there is proper voltage, does the valve open?

Replace the coil if the valve does not open despite proper voltage

Briefly push in the starter contact and release to ensure that the blower motor and oil pump are rotating in the correct direction.

Turn the burner switch to the “ON” position.

Ensure the following before adjustment

Record the current low-fire oil pressure (psi)

Is the ignition of the main flame smooth?

Adjust the screw on the solenoid: clockwise to increase, counterclockwise to decrease the low-fire oil pressure.

Is a satisfactory low-fire oil flame established?

Leave the gas pilot shutoff cock open

Did the pilot light upon completion of the pre-purge period?

Are the main fuel valves energized without main flame?

Did the fuel valves de-energize within four seconds after the main burner ignition trial ends?

Consult the accompanying wiring diagram for system adjustment information

Ensure independent actuators for fuel, air, and FGR are coordinated

Is the system providing optimum combustion throughout the firing range?

Shut off fuel supply and return line valves

Drain oil and sediment from the strainer canister

Remove the strainer cover and withdraw the strainer element

Determine the type of strainer element
