Off-Highway Truck Maintenance

1. Fuses and circuit: The fuses and circuit breakers are located in the cab below the right side of the dash (1).

2. Windshield wiper and body and frame inspection: Inspect the windshield wiper located in front of the windshield (2). Inspect the body and frame for cracks. Always pay particular attention to locations on the frame where castings and fabricated plates meet (2).

3. Windshield washer reservoir: The windshield washer reservoir is located in the engine compartment at the right rear corner of the cab (3).

4. Ether cylinder: The ether starting aid system ether cylinder is located in the engine compartment on the right side of the radiator shroud (4).

Ether starting tips:

- A full ether cylinder weighs approximately 1047 g (37 oz.) and an empty cylinder weighs approximately 453 g (16 oz.).

- Cold weather causes rough combustion and white exhaust smoke from unburned fuel. Ether injection will reduce the duration and severity of unburned fuel symptoms.

5. Oil cooler screen: The oil cooler screen is located in the black manifold below the oil cooler (5).

6. Oil filter inspection: Whenever an oil filter is removed for replacement (engine filter shown) (6), cut the filter open and inspect for metal or other debris. Use a magnet to differentiate between ferrous and nonferrous metals.
