Acknowledge understanding of safety information

Perform initial packing adjustment carefully

Is the packing gland adjusted correctly?

Inspect for need of packing gland adjustment or replacement

Contact Viking Pump® representative if necessary

Ensure pressure in the chamber is completely vented

Lock out or make non-operational the driving means

Identify the liquid the pump has been handling

Obtain and understand the material safety data sheet (MSDS) for the liquid

Loosen the two set screws in the outer face of the bearing housing

Rotate the bearing housing clockwise until it cannot be turned anymore

Mark the outside diameter of the bearing housing and the pump bracket

Ensure all necessary tools and materials are available, including lubricant and press.

Add a chamfer on the bushing and the mating part.

Ensure the bushing is started straight.

Do not stop pressing operation until bushing is in proper position.

Check bushing for cracks after installation.

Ensure the following safety measures are in place before starting

Obtain and review the material safety data sheet (MSDS) for the liquid

Insert brass or plastic bar through port opening between rotor teeth or lock coupling end of shaft to keep shaft from turning

Bend up tang of lockwasher and remove locknut and lockwasher from shaft using a spanner wrench

Remove brass or plastic bar from port opening

Loosen the two setscrews in the face of the bearing housing

Remove the bearing housing assembly from the bracket

Ensure all pressure in the chamber has been completely vented through appropriate openings or connections.

Lock out or make non-operational the driving means to prevent accidental start-up during maintenance.

Identify the liquid the pump has been handling and understand the necessary safety precautions.

Obtain and review the material safety data sheet (MSDS) for the liquid.

End Clearance Adjustment Procedure

Refer to TSM for specific model series procedure on adjusting end clearance.

Has the end clearance been successfully adjusted?

Verify improved pump performance after adjustment.
