Ensure all necessary parts are in place

Check the lubricant level in the crankcase

Has the compressor been operated for 100 hours or 1 month?

Replace the break-in lubricant with QuinCip lubricant

Is the lubricant level within the recommended range after replacement?

Verify ambient temperature conditions

Ensure the compressor is connected to a power supply

Verify that the compressor is not in automatic stand-by mode

Remove the pressure switch cover

Adjust the spring loaded adjustment screw

Avoid touching electrical leads when setting the pressure switch

Inspect compressor equipment for damage during shipment

Was any damage found on the compressor equipment?

Demand an inspection from the carrier if damage is found

Ask the carrier how to file a claim for shipping damages

Refer to SECTION 3, Freight Damage for complete details

Examine every carton and crate upon receipt

Change oil if 1000 hours or 6 months have passed, whichever occurs first

Was the oil changed more frequently due to harsher conditions?

Inspect compressor valves for leakage

Inspect compressor valves for carbon build-up

Crankcase and Oil Sump Strainer Cleaning

Clean oil sump strainer screen inside the crankcase with a safety solvent

Measure Span Length and Deflection

Measure the span length of the drive (in inches)

Calculate the required deflection (in inches) by multiplying the span length by 0.016

Measure and Adjust Belt Tension

Lay a straightedge across the top outer surface of the drive belt from pulley to sheave

Apply pressure with a belt tension gauge at the center of the span and record the deflection force reading

Is the deflection force reading within the minimum and maximum values?

Adjust the belt(s) if the deflection force reading is not within the specified range

For new belts, tension to the maximum value plus 33%
