Main Printed Circuit Board Replacement
Preparation
Unplug the Indicator from the AC power source
Disassembly
Remove the four screws from the Bottom Housing
Carefully separate the Top Housing and Bottom Housing
Disconnect cables from the Main PCB
Loosen terminal block’s set-screws and remove leads from Scale 2 Load Cell Connector J7
Remove hex screws connecting the RS232 Interface port to the Bottom Housing (T71P)
Remove screws from the PCB
Indicator RS232 Interface / Print Test
Verify communication parameters
Connect the Indicator to an external printer or computer
Press the Print/Units button
Check if printing occurs on the external device
Describe any issues encountered during the test
Membrane Switch Replacement
Separate the Top and Bottom Housing
Extract the plastic ribbon cable from the PCB’s Keypad Connector on the T71XW
Remove the protective backing from the new Membrane Switch and position it on the Top Cover
Re-position the Main PCB over its screw holes and tighten the screws
Reconnect the cables removed in previous steps
Re-insert the hex screws connecting the RS232 Interface port to the Bottom Housing on the T71P
Close the Housing and re-insert the four screws
Perform calibration procedures
Perform testing procedures
Indicator Power Test
Plug the AC Adapter or line cord into a suitable power source
Press the ON/ZERO Off button with the Indicator connected to power
Check the display during the self-test
If the display did not appear, check AC input and adapter/cord functionality
If the display was erratic, replace the PC board
Indicator Overload/Underload Test
Underload Test
Ensure the Indicator is ON and no mass is on the scale base.
Lift up on the scale base platform and check if the display indicates Error 8.2.
Release the platform and check if the display returns to zero.
Overload Test
Place a mass on the scale base platform that slightly exceeds the capacity of the scale base.
Check if the Indicator display indicates Error 8.1.
Remove the mass and check if the display returns to zero.
Ensure not to exceed Load Cell capacity during the test.
