Washer Mixing Valve Testing
Preparation
Disconnect the unit from the power source
Remove all wiring from the solenoid(s) being tested
Testing Solenoid Continuity
Place the test leads across the terminals of the solenoid being tested. Record the meter reading.
Does the meter indicate continuity?
Enter the resistance reading from the ohmmeter
Is the resistance approximately 860 ohms?
Testing Solenoid Grounding
Washer Lower Bearing Assembly Replacement
Preparation
Disconnect the unit from the power source
Disassembly
Remove the transmission from the washer cabinet
Remove the cams, drive pulley, and brake assembly
Remove the three screws securing the suspension housing to the lower bearing assembly
Bearing Removal
Slip the pipe and cap assembly over the drive shaft and up against the drive tube
Use a puller with at least a 3 1/2 inch spread to remove the lower bearing assembly
Washer Torque Testing
Pre-Test Warm-Up
Operate the washer in the agitation cycle with hot water for about two (2) minutes
Operate the washer in a spin cycle for about two (2) minutes
Initial Spin Efficiency Test
Place a 3 1/2 pound weight in the washer basket
Start the machine in the spin cycle
Did the basket reach full spin with the weight?
Torque Test Procedures
Describe any issues observed during the initial spin efficiency test
Washer Spin Bearing Replacement
Disconnect the unit from the power source
Remove the bearing and seal housing and the tub support
Remove the seal body from the housing cavity
Press the spin bearing out of the cavity from the opposite side of the housing
Install the replacement bearing into the housing cavity
Press against the outer race of the bearing to avoid damage
Check that all parts are in place
Test the washer for proper operation after reassembly
Describe any issues encountered during the procedure
Washer Spin Switch Testing
Preparation
Disconnect the unit from the power source
Raise the top and open the clothes door
Safety Switch Assembly Removal
Remove the two screws securing the safety switch assembly to the underside of the top
Remove switch wiring
Ohmmeter Testing
Place test leads across the terminals at each end of switch. The switch contacts should be open, and continuity SHOULD NOT be indicated.
Leave the test leads across the terminals and depress the switch button. The switch contacts should close and continuity SHOULD be indicated.
