Verify damper operation with water operating controls

Is there a problem with the operation of the water heater in AUTOMATIC OPERATION position?

Reset Service Switch to HOLD OPEN DAMPER position if there is a problem

Does the water heater operate in HOLD OPEN DAMPER position?

Refer to EFFIKAL RVGP-FSF-SERIES TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE if water heater operates in HOLD OPEN DAMPER position

Refer to Troubleshooting Sections and Operational Checklist if water heater does not operate in either position

Measure the depth of lime buildup in the water heater

Is the lime buildup 2 inches or more?

Deliming Schedule Recommendation

Recommended deliming schedule based on lime accumulation

Review handling instructions on the label of the deliming product

Shut off gas supply to the heater

Remove outer cover plate from lower side of heater jacket

Remove six hex head screws securing tank cleanout plate

Remove lime, scale, or sediment carefully to avoid damaging glass lining

Turn off the manual gas control valve to the appliance

Ensure the gas supply is shut off

Temperature Control Replacement

Check if the storage tank temperature control is out of calibration

Replace the storage tank temperature control if out of calibration

Is the new temperature control functioning correctly?

Verify the following components are operational

Burner Characteristics Verification

Are all burner characteristics evident?

Check that burner venturi and ports are free of foreign matter

Clean burners with bristle brush and/or vacuum cleaner

Reinstall burners in unit ensuring correct installation in support brackets
