Ensure the boiler is not frozen

Enter the current water usage from the fill water meter

Is the water usage within 5% of the system volume?

Conduct water quality testing prior to installing the appliance

Enter the water hardness in grains per gallon

Is the water hardness between 5 and 12 grains per gallon?

Consult local water treatment companies for hard water areas

Enter the pH level of the water

Is the pH level between 6.5 and 8.5?

Ensure the boiler is not frozen

Check air and vent termination screens

Disconnect the two external wires connected to each of the heat/loop demand terminals on the connection board.

Connect a voltmeter across the two incoming wires.

Close each thermostat, zone valve, and relay in the external circuit one at a time and check the voltmeter reading across the incoming wires.

Close thermostat and check voltmeter reading.

Close zone valve and check voltmeter reading.

Close relay and check voltmeter reading.

There should NEVER be a voltage reading.

If a voltage does occur under any condition, check and correct the external wiring.

Reconnect the external thermostat circuit wires to the connection board.

Shut off power and gas to the appliance if the boiler may be frozen

Ensure the discharge line is connected to the relief valve directing flow to a safe disposal area

Turn off power to the boiler before any service operation

Inspect the relief valve and lift the lever to verify flow

Check if the relief valve is piped with its discharge in a safe area

Re-inspect safety relief valves for corrosion or tampering

Operate the valve lever to ensure waterways are clear

Check for water discharge when operating the valve lever
