0.4 Hazards caused by materials and substances

Ensure the forevacuum line is tight

Check for potential leaks where hazardous gases can escape

Verify the pump's integral leak rate is < 1·10-8 mbar·l/s upon delivery

Conduct a leak search after installing the pump or performing service work

Perform regular leak searches when pumping toxic gases

Clean the turbomolecular pump of dust with a dry cloth, if required.

Check if the converter has collected grime (dust, moisture) on the inside.

Ensure no grime is present to avoid malfunctions, overheating, or short circuits.

Note if Leybold Service Department assistance is required for cleaning the converter.

Determine if bearing replacement is required

Contact after sales service or nearest Leybold Service Center for bearing replacement

Request a quotation for bearing replacement

Measure suspended matter concentration

Measure electrical conductivity

Check for aggressive carbon dioxide presence

4.7 Removing the pump from the system

Shut down the pump and vent as described in Sections 4.4 and 4.5

Has the pump handled hazardous gases?

Observe Safety Information 0.4.6

Ensure the pump has come to a full stop before disconnecting

Switch the mains power off and wait until the yellow power LED is off

Disconnect any cable connections

Describe any contamination with process gases
