Safety Information
Inspect the fan cowl and cooling fins
Clean the fan cowl grid
Remove coarse dirt from fins

Safety Precautions
Observe all safety information provided in Section 5.1
Switch off the pump and vent to atmospheric pressure before removing any plugs
Ensure the pump has cooled down before proceeding
Wear protective gloves to protect against aggressive residues in the oil
Oil Drainage
Use the oil-drain facility for safety and simplicity
Unscrew the oil-drain screws (11/2) or (11/1) and the oil-fill screw (11/4) to drain the oil
Clean the sealing surface and reinstall the oil-drain screw using a gasket in perfect condition

Check the oil level in the oil level glass
Check the condition of the oil in the oil level glass

Is the oil light-brown in color?
Is the oil dark, indicating early ageing?

Check for signs of malfunctioning shaft seals
Diagnosis — inner shaft seal fault
Is the oil level in the oiler dropping without oil appearing under the shaft seal housing?
Switch off the pump immediately if the inner shaft seal is faulty
Repair the pump if the inner shaft seal is faulty
Diagnosis — outer shaft seal fault
Is the oil level in the oiler dropping with oil appearing under the shaft seal housing?
Continue operating the pump if oil loss is slight and oil is topped up regularly

Remove stubborn contaminants
Change the oil
Turn the impellers by hand during cleaning
