Set main pump controller to 'OFF' while servicing engine

Verify with maintenance and security supervisors about the temporary interruption of fire protection equipment

Alert the local fire department if the main pump controller is connected by silent alarm

Check Battery Charging Alternator

Set main pump controller to 'OFF' while servicing engine

Alert the local fire department if the main pump controller is connected by silent alarm to headquarters

Put a tray under the filter to retain spilt lubricating oil

Remove the filter with a strap wrench or similar tool and dispose of the filter properly (Ref Figure #30)

Add clean engine lubricating oil to the new filter and allow time for oil to pass through the filter element

Start the engine by following the 'To Start Engine' Procedure in this manual

Observe the instrument panel tach

Rotate the long adjustor clockwise to lower the RPM and counter clockwise to raise the RPMs until desired speed is obtained

Tighten the jam nut while holding the long adjustor with a wrench

Stop engine by following 'To Stop Engine' Procedure in this manual

Set main pump controller to 'OFF' while servicing engine

Check with maintenance and security supervisors to verify all departments are alerted of the temporary interruption

Alert the local fire department if the main pump controller is connected by silent alarm to headquarters

Operate the engine until it is warm

Fill the sump to the 'FULL' mark on the dipstick with new and clean lubricating oil of an approved grade

Set main pump controller to 'OFF' while servicing engine

Verify with maintenance and security supervisors that all departments are alerted of the temporary interruption

Alert the local fire department if the main pump controller is connected by silent alarm

Replace the following components

Return main pump controller selector to 'Automatic' position

Set the mode selector on the engine to 'Automatic' position

Advise the appropriate personnel that the engine has been returned to 'Automatic'
