Bearing Assembly and Impeller Removal
WARNING: Pressure Release
Bearing Assembly Removal
Remove the eight capscrews that hold the bearing assembly or adapter ring to the volute.
Remove the bearing assembly.
Impeller Removal
Insert a long punch between the impeller vanes or grasp the impeller with a strap wrench to prevent the impeller from turning.
Remove the impeller nut, lockwasher, impeller, and adapter ring.
Seal Parts and Coverplate Removal
Select your bearing assembly type
Spring Type Coupler and Motor Reinstallation
Install the new coupler on the pump shaft
Ensure the coupler setscrew is seated in the shaft dimple
Lift the motor into position and attach the motor side coupler half
Ensure the coupler setscrew is seated in the shaft dimple on the motor side
Support the motor and install the four screws that hold the motor to the bearing assembly
Attach the conduit and power leads to the conduit box
Connect the power leads to the motor leads
Replace the conduit box cover
Check for proper motor rotation (clockwise when viewed from the back of the motor)
Seal Reinstallation
Preparation
Clean the shaft sleeve and seal seat recess
Polish the sleeve using crocus cloth
Seat Installation
Install the seat gasket and seat into the seal recess
Seal Head Installation
Lubricate the seal boot with soapy water
Slide the complete seal head over the shaft
Ensure the protrusions in the driver remain engaged in the notches in the carbon
Elastomeric Type Coupler and Motor Reinstallation
Position the coupler half on the pump shaft
Select the pump shaft type and coupler size
If dimpled shaft, ensure setscrew is positioned over the dimple and tightened
If keyed shaft with size 4J coupler, ensure shaft end extends 0.25 in. past the coupler half flange face and setscrews are tightened
If keyed shaft with size 5J coupler, ensure shaft end is flush with the coupler half flange face and setscrews are tightened
Position the coupler half on the motor shaft
Select the motor shaft type
If dimpled shaft, ensure setscrew is positioned over the dimple and tightened
If keyed shaft, ensure coupler half is slid onto the motor shaft without tightening setscrews
Seal Removal
Seal Disassembly
Remove the spring retainer and seal spring
Pry the compression ring off the seal boot
Insert a standard screwdriver under the seal head and carefully pry the seal head off the shaft
Use a small screwdriver to loosen and remove the seal seat and gasket
Seat Retainer Inspection
Is the seat retainer in good condition?
If the seat retainer is in bad condition, pry it out and replace it with the new one provided in the seal kit
