Pump Inspection
Pre-assembly Inspection
Inspect the pump parts
Replace any part that does not meet the required criteria
Cleaning of Pump Parts
Clean the pump parts in solvent to remove oil, grease, and dirt
Ensure machined surfaces are protected during cleaning to prevent equipment damage
Seal Removal
Seal Disassembly
Remove the spring retainer and seal spring
Pry the compression ring off the seal boot
Insert a standard screwdriver under the seal head and carefully pry the seal head off the shaft without scratching the shaft sleeve
Use a small screwdriver to loosen and remove the seal seat and gasket
Seat Retainer Inspection
Is the seat retainer in good condition?
If the seat retainer is in bad condition, pry it out and replace it with the new one provided in the seal kit
Elastomeric Type Coupler and Motor Reinstallation
Position the coupler half on the pump shaft
Select the pump shaft type and coupler size
Tighten the setscrew over the dimple if applicable
Slide the coupler half on the shaft and tighten setscrews if applicable
Position the coupler half on the motor shaft
Select the motor shaft type
Tighten the setscrew over the dimple if applicable
Slide the coupler half on the motor shaft without tightening setscrews if applicable
Place the new insert in the pump side coupler half
Impeller Replacement
Inspection Criteria
Check for the following conditions
Replacement Process
Ensure the equipment is powered off and locked out
Remove the casing to access the impeller
Carefully remove the old impeller
Install the new impeller ensuring proper alignment
Reattach the casing securely
Post Replacement Checks
Bearing Assembly and Impeller Reinstallation
WARNING: Use a new gasket when reinstalling the bearing assembly to prevent injury or damage.
Bearing Preparation and Installation
Wipe the bearing bores clean and remove any rust or scale deposits with a fine emery cloth.
Insert the new wave spring into the rear bearing bore.
Insert the shaft assembly into the housing and install and tighten the retaining screws.
For cast iron bearing assemblies, install the coverplate on the housing.
If used, install the adapter ring and gasket on the new bearing assembly.
