Bell & Gossett In-Line Mounted Pump 606

Check for the following conditions

Ensure the pump is turned off and disconnected from power source

Remove the pump casing to access the impeller

Carefully remove the old impeller

Install the new impeller ensuring it is securely in place

Reconnect the pump to the power source and turn it on

Remove the spring retainer and seal spring

Pry the compression ring off the seal boot

Insert a standard screwdriver under the seal head and carefully pry the seal head off the shaft

Ensure the shaft sleeve is not scratched

Use a small screwdriver to loosen and remove the seal seat and gasket

Position the coupler half on the pump shaft

Select the pump shaft type and coupler size

If dimpled, ensure setscrew is positioned over the dimple and tightened

If keyed with size 4J, ensure shaft extends 0.25 in. past the coupler half flange face and setscrews are tightened

If keyed with size 5J, ensure shaft is flush with the coupler half flange face and setscrews are tightened

Position the coupler half on the motor shaft

If dimpled, ensure setscrew is positioned over the dimple and tightened

If keyed, ensure coupler half is slid onto the motor shaft without tightening setscrews

Ensure all system and pump components have cooled before handling

Is the system drained if no valves are installed?

Has the liquid stopped coming out of the drain valve?

Describe issues with isolation valves if liquid continues to flow

Replacement of Gaskets and O-Rings

Inspection and Replacement of Seats

Inspect the seats for smoothness and physical defects
