500 Hourly / 6 Monthly Pump Lubrication
Safety Information
Improper installation, operation or maintenance of pump may cause serious injury or death, and/or result in damage to pump and/or other equipment. Viking’s warranty does not cover failure due to improper installation, operation or maintenance.
Apply external lubrication
Apply multi-purpose grease, NLGI # 2, slowly with a hand gun to all lubrication fittings every 500 hours of operation.
Contact Viking Pump® representative for specific lubrication questions.
Check Engineering Service Bulletin ESB-515 in the Appendix for standard grease thickener types used by Viking to ensure compatibility.
Consider other types of lubrication for applications involving very high or low temperatures.
O-Pro™ Seals Lubrication
Grease O-Pro™ seals every 500 hours of operation with a lubricating fluid compatible with the process fluid.

Safety Information
Read and understand the safety information before proceeding
Ensure pump is turned off and disconnected from power source
Inspect pump for any visible damage
Clean the exterior of the pump
Check that all grease fittings are clean and accessible
Inspect and clean the pump interior
Remove pump casing
Clean internal components
Thrust Bearing Adjustment
Safety Precautions
Ensure pressure in the chamber is completely vented
Lock out or make non-operational the driving means
Identify the liquid the pump has been handling and obtain MSDS
Thrust Bearing Adjustment
Loosen the two set screws in the outer face of the bearing housing
Rotate the bearing housing clockwise until it cannot be turned anymore
Mark the outside diameter of the bearing housing and the pump bracket
Make another mark on the pump bracket as per Table 4 on page 14

Remove the head of the pump
Examine parts for wear
Did the idler slide off the idler pin during removal?
Replacement and Safety
Is the idler bushing showing moderate wear?
Is the idler pin showing moderate wear?
Replace idler bushing if necessary

Carbon Graphite Bushing Installation
Preparation
Ensure all necessary tools and materials are available, including lubricant and press.
Verify that the bushing and mating part have chamfers.
Installation with Press
Use a press for installation.
Ensure the bushing is started straight.
Do not stop pressing operation until bushing is in proper position.
Post-Installation Check
Check bushing for cracks after installation.
