Engine Oil Check
Ensure the vehicle is on a level spot and the engine is turned off and at operating temperature.
Wait a few minutes for the oil to drain back into the bottom of the engine.
Pull out the dipstick and wipe it clean with a rag.
Reinsert the dipstick fully.
Check the oil level on the dipstick.
CAUTION: Be careful not to touch the hot exhaust manifold.
Is the oil level below or only slightly above the low level?
If yes, add engine oil of the same type as already in the engine.
Remove the oil filler cap.
Elgine Coolant Level Check
Warning: Do not remove the radiator cap when the engine is hot to prevent burning yourself.
Is the engine cold?
If the engine is not cold, wait until it cools down.
Is the coolant level between the 'FULL' and 'LOW' lines on the reservoir?
If the level is low, add ethylene-glycol type coolant.
Did the coolant level reach the 'FULL' line after adding coolant?
If the coolant level drops within a short time after replenishing, there may be a leak in the system.
Did you visually check the radiator, hoses, radiator cap, drain cock, and water pump for leaks?
If you can find no leak, have your Toyota dealer test the cap pressure and check for leaks in the cooling system.
