1 Monthly Tilt-Pad Bearing Storage Lubrication
Bearing protection — tilt-pad bearings
Remove the pipe plug from the bearing cap located above the tilt-bearing shell
Pour in approximately one cup of oil
Rotate the shaft a few revolutions
Is the oil removed from the housing for long periods of storage?
6 Monthly Anti-Friction Bearings Oil Change
Oil Re-lubrication
Change the oil at regular intervals
Determine if special conditions require more frequent oil changes
Avoid operating the motor with oxidized oil
Use only good grade, oxidation-corrosion-inhibited turbine oils
Specify the viscosity of the oil based on bearing type, size, load, speed, and ambient temperature
Check if operation in ambient temperatures near or below freezing requires preheating the oil or special oil
Ensure oil-metering hole is clear and housing is dry before re-assembly

Valve Inspection
5.8.2 Valve Inspection
Inspect the check valve and stop valve in the discharge line
Ensure the check valve is protecting the pump from reverse flow and excessive backpressure
Verify the stop valve is used correctly during priming, starting, and shutting down the pump
Close the stop valve before stopping the pump
Is the pump operated against a high static head?
Describe any issues found during inspection

Slip Ring Carbon Brush Maintenance
Brush Replacement
Check the wear level of the carbon brush
Replace the carbon brush if worn to 1/2 ~ 3/4 of original size
Brush Material
Verify the brush material against the motor's nameplate
Record the recommended brush type from the nameplate
Dimensions
Refer to CNS 2322 C4051 or JIS C2802 for brush, holder, and gap dimensions
Ensure the gap between the brush and its holder is within recommended limits
Motor Exterior Cleaning
5.4 Clean the exterior of the motor
Check for dirt, lint, or debris on screens and louvers over inlet air openings
Ensure motor is not in operation before cleaning screens and louvers
Replace or clean air filters
Clean the external fan thoroughly to prevent unbalance and vibration
Clean all tubes of the air-to-air heat exchanger using a synthetic fiber bristle tube brush
