Compressor Contactor Testing
Indicator Light Test
Is the compressor indicator light on when the unit is in ice making mode?
Voltage Check
Measure voltage on the coil of the contactor
Is there full voltage present at the contactor coil?
High Pressure Cut Out Check
Is the high pressure cut out open?
Measure voltage from the controller to ground at pin 4
Is there voltage from the controller to ground at pin 4?
Spillway Scrubbing
Preparation
Shut machine off
Remove right side panel liner and panel
Ice Thickness Sensor Handling
Disconnect ice thickness sensor from its bracket and move out of the way
Scrubbing Procedure
Perform 4 to 6 strokes of scrubbing across the normal flow of water
Select the tool used for scrubbing
Reassembly and Testing
Harvest Assist and Hot Gas Valve Testing
Harvest Assist Testing
Push and release the Harvest button to check the Hot Gas indicator light.
Did the Harvest Assist Solenoid or Motor get powered?
Did the ejection pin extend when ice was thin or press against the ice until release when nearly full sized?
Perform a voltage check at the harness connector after unplugging the high voltage harness from the harvest assist solenoid.
Is there full voltage at the connector?
If full voltage is present, did the solenoid extend?
Replace the solenoid if it did not extend despite full voltage.
Check voltage at the controller, specifically at the hot gas / harvest assist pin 5.
Compressor Testing
Voltage Check
Measure idle voltage at the contactor (compressor off)
Measure active voltage at the contactor (compressor starting)
Is the supply voltage above the lowest rated voltage for the ice machine?
PTCR and Resistance Check
Measure PTCR resistance at room temperature (50-100°F)
Is PTCR resistance between 25 and 50 ohms?
Measure resistance to ground from PTCR
Is resistance to ground infinite?
Liquid Line Solenoid Testing
Preparation
Ensure the model is remote
Put the controller into test mode by depressing Off for 3 seconds then Clean for 3 seconds
Test Cycle Verification
Is the Condenser Fan motor indicator light on at the end of the test cycle?
Is the liquid line valve open at the end of the test cycle?
Voltage Check
Is there full voltage at the liquid line lead connection at the end of the test?
Is there voltage from the liquid line solenoid lead (top wire) to ground when the Condenser Fan indicator light is On?
