Purge Valve Testing
Initial Testing with Indicator Lights
Shut unit off by holding the Off button for 3 seconds
Wait for four minutes
Push and release the On button
Is the Purge Valve indicator light ON?
Voltage Check if Purge Valve Does Not Open
Shut the unit down by holding the Off button for 3 seconds
Unplug the harness connection from the purge valve
Wait for four minutes
Harvest Assist and Hot Gas Valve Testing
Harvest Assist Testing
Push and release the Harvest button to activate the Harvest Assist
Is the Hot Gas indicator light on?
Did the ejection pin extend?
Is there full voltage at the solenoid harness connector?
Is there voltage from pin 5 to ground at the controller?
Replace the solenoid if it does not extend with full voltage present
Replace the harness if there is voltage at pin 5 but low voltage at the solenoid harness connection
Replace the controller if the voltage to ground is low
Pressure Switches Testing
Fan Pressure Switch Testing
Attach refrigeration gauge set to high side port
Unplug both wires from fan pressure control and wrap terminals in electrical tape
Connect ohmmeter to terminals of fan pressure control
Switch ice machine on
Observe and record pressure at which the pressure control closes
Is the closing pressure within specification?
Switch unit off and allow system to equalize
Observe and record pressure at which the pressure control opens
Ice Thickness Sensor Cleaning
Disassembly
Remove the ice thickness sensor from the water distributor bracket.
Separate the metal sensor from the plastic insulator-bracket.
Cleaning
Wipe the sensor with diluted ice machine scale remover.
Scrub the plastic insulator-bracket with diluted ice machine scale remover to remove all traces of mineral build up.
Wipe the wire to the bulkhead with diluted ice machine scale remover.
Rinsing and Drying
Wash all ice thickness sensor parts with clean water.
Compressor Testing
Voltage Check
Measure idle voltage at the contactor (compressor off)
Measure active voltage at the contactor (compressor starting)
Is the supply voltage not less than the lowest rated voltage for the ice machine?
PTCR and Resistance Check
Measure PTCR resistance at room temperature (50-100°F)
Is PTCR resistance between 25 and 50 ohms?
Measure resistance to ground from PTCR
Is resistance to ground infinite?
