8 Hourly / 1 Daily Compressor Maintenance
Oil Maintenance
Record oil level on bayonet gauge
Is the oil level between the high and low marks?
Is the oil discolored or contaminated?
Drain and replace oil if contaminated
System Drainage
Drain drop legs and traps in air distribution system
Visual Inspection
Perform overall visual inspection of the compressor
1 Daily Air Tank Draining
Preparation
Disconnect & lockout the compressor from the power source (electric models) or disconnect the spark plug wire from the spark plug (gas engine models).
Is the compressor stored in a heated area if subjected to freezing temperatures?
Pressure Reduction
Enter the current air pressure in the tank (PSIG)
Is the air pressure in the tank 30 PSIG or less?
Draining Process
Open the drain valve to allow the moisture and air mixture to drain from the tank.
Close the drain valve once the moisture has been completely drained.
160 Hourly / 1 Monthly Belt Tension Check
Belt Tension Measurement
Measure the span length of the drive (in inches)
Calculate the required deflection (in inches)
Lay a straightedge across the top outer surface of the drive belt from pulley to sheave
Apply pressure with a belt tension gauge and record the deflection force reading
Is the deflection force reading within the minimum and maximum values?
Adjust the belt(s) if the deflection force reading is not within the specified range
New Belt Tension Adjustment
Calculate the initial tension for new belts
Initial 100 Hours / 1 Months Oil Change
Pre-Operation Checks
Ensure the following are in place before starting the compressor
Oil Change Procedure
Replace break-in lubricant after 100 hours of operation or 1 month
Select the lubricant to use
Lubricant Selection
Enter the crankcase oil capacity for your model
Enter the viscosity of the lubricant to use
Is the lubricant's pour point at least 15°F lower than the minimum expected ambient temperature?
1 Daily Compressor Check
Pre-Start Checks
Check oil level in crankcase
Drain liquid from the air receiver and moisture trap
Turn on cooling water for water-cooled units
Starting the Compressor
Jog the starter button and check compressor rotation
Describe any issues with compressor rotation
Prepare continuous run units for starting by adjusting the pilot valve
Start compressor per factory instructions
