Attach a pressure gauge or a manometer to the gauge port

Enter the manifold pressure from Table 5

Calculate the actual heater input using the formula (3600 / T) X H = Btuh

Is the calculated Btuh within the acceptable range?

Remove the regulator adjustment sealing cap

Adjust the gas pressure by turning the adjusting screw

Clock the meter again to verify the input rate

Repeat adjustment and clocking until the specified input rate is achieved

Turn the gas control knob to PILOT

Check manifold and inlet gas pressures

Follow 'Pilot Burner' procedure under 'Preventive Maintenance'

Lift the lever at the top of the valve several times until the valve seats properly and operates freely.

Check operation of other relief valves if present

Ensure safe discharge of hot water to prevent water damage.

Did the temperature and pressure relief valve discharge periodically or continuously?

Problem Identification and Resolution

Describe any issues observed with the valve operation.

Is there unusually high water temperature or pressure in the system?

Measure the depth of lime buildup in the heater

Record the depth of lime buildup in inches

Deliming Schedule Recommendation

Determine deliming frequency based on lime buildup

Review handling instructions on the deliming product label

Is the water heater functioning efficiently?

Seal any unused openings in the venting system

Inspect the venting system for proper size and horizontal pitch

Check for blockage, restriction, leakage, corrosion, and other deficiencies

Close all building doors and windows

Close all doors between the water heater space and other spaces

Turn on all appliances not connected to the venting system

Turn on all exhaust fans at maximum speed
