Lubrication — How to properly determine the oil service intervals

Check discharge temperature of the blower

Calculate estimated oil temperature

Verify oil temperature conditions

Select appropriate ISO Viscosity Grade

Remove the oil overflow plug (21)

Remove mounting strains by loosening blower mounting bolts

Reset leveling and drive alignment

Ensure all piping meets blower connections accurately and squarely

Disconnect piping to clean blower interior thoroughly

Lubrication — For Units with grease lubricated drive end

Verify the following conditions

Use specified NLGI #2 premium grade aluminium complex grease, Roots P/N T20019002

Ensure no lithium based grease is used

Ensure hydraulic pressure relief fittings are in place to vent excess grease

Check restriction plug and metering orifice for proper function

Use a manual pressure gun to lubricate drive end bearing housing

Use specified NLGI #2 premium grade aluminum complex grease, Roots P/N T20019002 for URAI-G blower

Ensure care is used when opening the head plate seal vent chamber plugs (43)

Is the system under pressure or vacuum?

Check for gas leakage through the mechanical seals

Verify if gas leakage is escaping through the gear box vent or grease release fittings

Is the gas leakage undesirable?

Purge each seal chamber with an inert gas if leakage is undesirable

Ensure purge gas pressure is maintained one PSI above the discharge gas pressure

Check for gear end oil and drive end grease leakage into the gas stream

Check ambient temperature is above 90°F (32°C)

Verify discharge temperature is below 340°F (171°C)

Estimate oil temperature is 270°F (132°C)

Confirm use of ISO Viscosity Grade 460

Verify the specified and recommended oil is Roots synthetic oil of correct viscosity per Table 2

Remove the breather plug (25) and the oil overflow plug (21)

Fill the gearbox reservoir up to the overflow hole

Ensure the reservoir is not overfilled
