Equipment Check
Pre-Start Checks
Confirm that building supply voltage matches the voltage for which the unit is wired.
Disconnect and lock-out all power switches to fan.
Check all piping and wiring penetrations made by contractors for water tightness.
Check all fasteners, set screws and locking collars on the fan, bearings, drive, motor base and accessories for tightness.
Rotate the fan wheel by hand and assure no parts are rubbing. Remove any dirt or debris that may have accumulated during installation.
Check for bearing alignment and lubrication.
Check the V-belt drive for proper alignment and tension.
Check all guarding (if supplied) for being securely attached and not interfering with rotating parts.
1 Monthly Fan Maintenance
Inspection and Rotation
Inspect fan for moisture or dirt accumulations
Rotate the fan wheel by hand
Paint and Coating Maintenance
Is there any paint deterioration?
Are there signs of rust on machined parts?
Rust Prevention
Remove original rust preventive coating with petroleum solvent
Polish remaining rust from surface
Belt Drive Maintenance
Initial Inspection
Check for wear, tension, alignment, and dirt accumulation on V-belt drives
Are the sheaves free from grooves or wear?
Belt Replacement
Are all belts being replaced on multiple groove drives?
Loosen belt tension to remove belts without prying
Ensure slack in each belt is on the same side of the drive after replacement
Tension Adjustment
Measure belt deflection halfway between sheave centers (in inches)
Bearing Lubrication
Preparation
Ensure the fan is turned off and locked out before starting lubrication.
Gather necessary materials
Lubrication Process
Is the shaft rotating during lubrication?
Add lubricant until clean grease is seen purging from the bearing.
Is the bearing visible to observe purged grease?
Enter the number of grease shots used for lubrication.
Post-Lubrication Check
Fan Maintenance
Safety Precautions
Disconnect the electrical supply to the fan
Secure the fan impeller
Routine Maintenance
