Thrust Pot Lubrication
5.8 Lubricate the thrust pot during a shutdown period
Completely immerse the bearings in oil
Fill the oil reservoir until the oil runs over the oil retainer tube and down the shaft
Before startup, drain the oil to its required level
Mechanical Seal Inspection

Allow time for seal adjustment if slight leaks occur at start-up
Run pump continuously if leaks decrease while running
Check for constant leaks during operation

Confirm completion of initial procedures
Verify mechanical seal lubrication and piping connection
Verify operation and regulation of cooling, heating, and flushing lines
Verify connections to driver and starting device match wiring diagram
Verify voltage, phase, and frequency on motor nameplate agree with line current
Rotate shaft manually to ensure impellers are not binding
Verify driver bearings are properly lubricated and check oil level in housing
Verify auxiliary seal components are properly vented

4.4.11 Set up the lubrication system
Observe instructions on the submittal document.
Fill the oil reservoir with oil.
Check the lubricator feed and ensure the oil reservoir is flowing freely.
Set the proper drops per minute on the regulator based on shaft size.
Use synthetic turbine oil ISO VG 32 for general applications.
Consult ITT for more specific data if necessary.
