Turn the furnace on at the thermostat

Wait a few minutes for dust to settle

Check the burner flames for the following characteristics

Are the flames stable, quiet, soft and blue with slightly orange tips?

Are the flames extending directly outward from the burner ports without curling downward, floating or lifting off the ports?

Disconnect all power sources before servicing

Verify power disconnection from all sources

Clean the permanent filter if applicable

Replace the disposable filter if applicable

Was the filter replaced with the same type and size?

Disconnect all power before servicing or installing the unit.

Check the following furnace components for proper working order

Check for blockage and/or leakage in the flue pipe system.

Inspect the outside termination and connections at and internal to the furnace.

Combustion Air Intake Pipe System Inspection

Check for blockage and/or leakage in the combustion air intake pipe system.

Inspect the outside termination and connection at the furnace.

Ensure the air cleaner is installed in the correct position (not with the access door facing down).

Verify the air cleaner is located in the return air duct next to the blower compartment.

Electronic Air Cleaner Inspection

Check accessibility for periodic inspection and cleaning of pre-filters and electronic cells.

Inspect and clean the pre-filters.

Inspect and clean the electronic cells.

Check accessibility for periodic inspection and replacement of the Media Air Cleaner filter cartridge.

Connect a manometer to the outlet tap at the gas valve before adjusting the pressure regulator.

Measure the current manifold pressure.

Is the manifold pressure within the acceptable range for natural gas (3.5 ± 3 inches water column) or propane gas (10 ± 3 inches water column)?

Adjust the pressure regulator direction

Propane Gas Specific Instructions

Ensure no unit gas valve regulator is used for propane gas.

Adjust the second stage supply line pressure regulator to 10 inches water column with all other gas consuming appliances running.
