Check for 24 volts at thermostat wires C and Y

Is there voltage at thermostat wires C and Y?

Check the continuity of the thermostat and wiring

Set fan selector switch at thermostat to 'ON' position

Check for 24 volts at wires C and G

Is there voltage at wires C and G?

Check the continuity of the thermostat and wiring

Install gauges to the compressor

Verify that the suction pressure drops

Verify that the discharge pressure increases

Listen for normal compressor sound levels

Check for elevated or unusual sound levels indicating reverse rotation

Record the amp draw and compare with tabulated values

Disconnect all power sources before servicing or installing

Ensure multiple power sources are checked and disconnected

Remove the leads from the holding coil

Test across the coil terminals using an ohmmeter

Replace the relay or contactor if the coil is not continuous

Checking Contactor Contacts - Single Phase

Disconnect ALL power before servicing

Disconnect the heater lead in wires

Using an ohmmeter, check heater continuity

Is the heater continuity continuous?

Replace heater if continuity is not continuous
