Disconnect all power sources before servicing or installing

Remove the leads from the holding coil

Test across the coil terminals using an ohmmeter

Checking Contactor Contacts - Single Phase

Disconnect the wire leads from the terminal (T) side of the contactor

Energize the contactor with power ON

Test across terminals L2 - T1 using a voltmeter

Start the system and switch operation from COOLING to HEATING cycle

Did the valve change its position?

Test the voltage at the valve coil terminals while the system is on the COOLING cycle

Is voltage registered at the coil terminals?

Thermostat and Wiring Check (Legacy Systems)

Is the system a legacy wired heat pump?

Check the operation of the thermostat and continuity of the connecting wiring from the 'O' terminal of the thermostat to the unit

Ensure all open flames are extinguished

Turn off electrical power and other heat sources

Verify that the following components are properly in place and secured

Has the hermetic system been properly evacuated?

Does the test indicate shorted, grounded, or open windings?

Disconnect all power sources before servicing or installing

Check continuity across terminals of high pressure control with wire removed using an ohmmeter

Attach a gauge to the dill valve port on the base valve

Start the system and place a piece of cardboard in front of the condenser coil to raise condensing pressure

Record the pressure at which the high pressure control cuts out

Check power supply to the air handler or modular blower

Check thermostat and thermostat wiring

Ensure motor and wheel turn freely

Check housing for cracks and/or corrosion
