Has the circuit protective device tripped?
Check the circuit protective device rating against the equipment nameplate
Power Disconnection
Disconnect all power to the unit ensuring all power legs are open
Compressor Lead Disconnection
Do not remove protective terminal cover
Disconnect the three leads going to the compressor terminals at the nearest point to the compressor
Resistance Testing
Time Delay Relay Check
Safety Precautions
Disconnect ALL power before servicing
Initial Setup
Tag and disconnect all wires from male spade connections of relay
Resistance Measurement
Measure the resistance across terminals H1 and H2
Continuity Check
Check for continuity across terminals 3 and 1
Check for continuity across terminals 4 and 5
Fan Relay Contacts Check
Safety Precautions
Disconnect ALL power before servicing or installing
Fan Relay Cooling and Heating Check
Disconnect wire leads from terminals
Test between terminals 2 and 4 with an ohmmeter - should read open
Test between terminals 5 and 6 with an ohmmeter - should read continuous
Energize the relays with power ON
Test between terminals 2 and 4 with an ohmmeter - should read continuous
Test between terminals 5 and 6 with an ohmmeter - should read open
Defrost Thermostat Testing
Temperature Test Lead Installation
Install a thermocouple type temperature test lead on the tube adjacent to the defrost control.
Insulate the lead point of contact.
Contact Closure Temperature Check
Record the temperature at which Part # 0130M00009P closes its contacts (2 and 2.5 ton units).
Is the closure temperature within 34°F ± 5°F for Part # 0130M00009P?
Record the temperature at which Part # 0130M00001P or B1370803 closes its contacts (3 thru 5 ton units).
Is the closure temperature within 31°F ± 3°F for Part # 0130M00001P or B1370803?
Record the temperature at which Part # 0130M00085 closes its contacts (units with 5 mm coils).
