3 Monthly Alarm Package Test
Test the Alarm Package (if equipped). Note: The alarms and beacon will operate with the engine running or not running.
Turn the key switch to ground control and pull out the red Emergency Stop button to the on position at both ground and platform controls. Did the alarm sound twice and the flashing beacon turn on and flash?
Activate the boom down function, hold for a moment and then release it. Did the descent alarm sound when the down function is activated?
Turn the key switch to platform controls. Is the flashing beacon on and flashing?
Press down the foot switch. Activate the boom down function, hold for a moment and then release it. Did the descent alarm sound when the down function is activated?
Press down the foot switch. Move the drive control handle off center, hold for a moment and then release it. Move the drive control handle off center in the opposite direction, hold for a moment and then release it. Did the travel alarm sound when the drive control handle is moved off center in either direction?
Sign off on the alarm package test
1 Yearly Dual Capacity And Platform Overload System Z-45 XC Test
Warning: This procedure requires trained personnel with PPE!
Perform this procedure with the boom fully retracted and in the stowed position and with the machine on a firm, level surface
All weight, tools, accessories and equipment removed from the platform
Key switch turned to ground control and red Emergency Stop button pulled out to the on position at both ground and platform controls
Test weight of 600 lbs / 272kg placed in the center of the platform and secured
Unrestricted range of motion indicator light is on at the ground controls
Restricted range of motion light is on at the ground controls
Primary boom fully extended and retracted
Additional 100 lbs / 45kg added to the platform
3 Monthly Oscillate Directional Valve Linkage Inspection
- Check the Oscillate Directional Valve Linkage (if equipped)
1. Remove the drive chassis cover and the axle covers from the non-steer end of the drive chassis
2. Locate the oscillate directional valve inside of the non-steer axle and inspect the linkage for the following:
1) Lock nut is tight against yoke
2) Yoke clevis pins are installed
3) Cotter pins are installed through clevis pins
4) Linkage is properly attached to directional valve;
2000 Hourly Turntable Rotation Gear Backlash Check
Warning: This procedure does not apply to the Z-60/80 models
Note: Perform this procedure with the machine fully stowed and the counterweight at the square end of the machine
Note: Perform this procedure with the machine on a firm, level surface that is free of obstructions
Rotate the turntable until the boom is centered between the circle end wheels
Apply approximately 20 lbs / 89 N of side force to the platform, moving the platform to one side as far as it will go
Using a feeler gauge, measure the gap between the swing hub pinion gear and the turntable rotation bearing at the center tooth on one of the drive hubs
Select the model of the machine
Check if the gap is within tolerance for the selected model
If the gap is not within tolerance, the backlash needs to be adjusted. Refer to Repair Procedure in the appropriate Service and Repair Manual for your machine, How to Adjust the Turntable Rotation Gear Backlash
1 Yearly Boom Extend/Retract Cables Inspection
- Inspect the Boom Extend/Retract Cables
Manufacturers specifications require that this procedure be performed by personnel that are competent in cable / wire rope inspection
Note: Additional or more frequent inspections may be required due to the following:
• exposed to hostile or corrosive environmental conditions
• boom is overloaded
• sustains a shock load
• electrical arcing
• unused for extended periods
The boom extend/retract cables are responsible for the extension and retraction of the boom tubes
