Pre-Lubrication Checks
Record the current bearing housing operating temperature
Is the operating temperature between 80-94°C (175-200°F)?
Is the external housing temperature below 94°C (200°F)?
Lubrication Process
Stop the pump and lock the motor
Remove the coupling guard
Remove the pipe plug from bearing locations
Apply 17 cm³ (1.0 in.³) of grease to Group 2 inboard bearing

Is the bearing housing operating temperature under 71°C (160°F)?
Is the external housing temperature below 94°C (200°F)?
Remove the pipe plug from both bearing locations
Enter the relubrication amount for Group 2 inboard bearing (cm³)
Enter the relubrication amount for Group 2 outboard bearing (cm³)
Packing Gland Adjustment
6.1 Maintenance schedule
Is there visible leakage from the packing gland when starting the pump?
Is the gland follower concentrically aligned?
Is the packing gland leakage reduced to a trickle after tightening the nuts?
Is the leakage flow rate adjusted to 20 to 30 drops per minute for clean fluid?
Is the regulated flow rate adjusted to 0.06 to 0.13 l/s for abrasive applications?
Enter the pressure introduced into tap 5 for packing lubrication (kPa)
Is the pressure introduced into tap 5 between 69 to 103 kPa?
Bearing Inspection
6.1 Maintenance schedule
Confirm satisfactory operation by checking the following
Record the surface temperature at the bearings
Is the surface temperature within the acceptable range? (Oil bath: 82°C, Oil mist: 82°C, Grease: 94°C)
Is the bearing temperature below the maximum exposure limit of 105°C?
Ensure overload prevention measures are in place
Perform routine vibration monitoring
Is the environment dirty or dusty?
Remove dirt from areas around close clearances, bearing housings, and motors if necessary
3 Monthly Pump Shaft Rotation
2.4 Storage
Store the pump in a clean, dry location away from vibration.
Leave flange covers in place to keep dirt and other foreign material out of pump casing.
Turn the pump shaft at regular intervals to prevent brinelling of the bearings and the seal faces from sticking.
Is the pump stored for less than 6 months?
Consult Flowserve for preservative actions if storage period exceeds 6 months.
Ensure protection of the pump after unpacking.
Has oil been added to the bearing housing?
Use inhibitor oils and greases if units are idle for extended periods after addition of lubricants.
