Tmap Sensor Check

Check mark

Verify that the TMAP sensor (F) is mounted tightly into the manifold or manifold adapter (E), with no leakage.

Check mark

If the TMAP is found to be loose, remove the TMAP retaining screw and the TMAP sensor from the manifold adapter.

Check mark

Visually inspect the TMAP O-ring seal for damage. Replace as necessary.

Check mark

Apply a thin coat of an approved silicon lubricant to the TMAP O-ring seal.

Check mark

Re-install the TMAP sensor into the manifold or manifold adapter and securely tighten the retaining screw.

Press the middle of the water pump pulley and alternator pulley with 10kgf

Inspect the belt deflection by pressing it

Is the belt deflection out of the standard?

Insert the belt between the gauge hook and spindle and press the tension gauge handle

Leave the handle and read the gauge

Engine oil, starter motor and battery are normal

Engine coolant temperature

Stop the engine and disconnect the ignition coil and air cleaner element

Remove the spark plug

Check mark

Open the throttle valve completely, crank the engine to remove foreign material from the cylinder

Check mark

CAUTION: Screen the spark plug hole with a rag to prevent hot coolant, oil, fuel, and other foreign material from entering the cylinder

Install the compression gauge to the spark plug hole

Check mark

Compressed pressure measurement

Check mark

Follow the procedures (no.6-7) to each cylinder and check that compressed pressure values of all cylinders are within the limit

NOTE: If RPM is not normal, it is impossible to measure the proper ignition timing, so measure it at a normal RPM.

Fuel Lock-Off Operation Test

Start engine

Locate the electrical connector for the fuel lock (A)

Check mark

Disconnect the electrical connector

Check mark

The engine should run out of fuel and stop within a short period of time

Check mark

NOTE: The length of time the engine runs on trapped fuel vapor increases with any increase in distance between the fuel lock-off and the pressure regulator/converter

Turn the ignition key switch off and re-connect the fuel lock-off connector

Check mark

Sign off on the fuel lock-off operation test
