Initial Inspection and Preparation

Inspect the belt between the lower and upper impeller shafts

Upper Impeller Belt Replacement

Drain the cooling system using drain valve 'A'

Disconnect the electrical connector and vacuum hose from ignition controller 'B'

Disconnect hose 'C' from the water pump

Disconnect hose 'D' from the top of the radiator

Drain the cooling system using drain valve 'A'

Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery

Disconnect the electrical connector and the vacuum hose from ignition controller 'B'

Disconnect hose 'C' from the water pump

Disconnect hose 'D' from the top of the radiator

Radiator and Grill Panel Removal

Remove the 'E' bolts from grill panel 'F'

Wear a protective mask to prevent inhaling of dust while servicing the filter.

Wear eye protection while servicing the filter.

Use a vacuum cleaner to remove as much dirt as possible from the filter.

Blow compressed air (100 PSI maximum pressure) into the clean side of the filter (in the opposite direction of normal air flow).

Is there still hardened dirt built-up in the filter?

Soak the filter in warm water for 15 minutes.

Drain cooling system using drain valve 'A'

Disconnect the electrical connector and the vacuum hose from Ignition controller 'B'

Disconnect hose 'C' from the water pump

Disconnect hose 'D' from the top of the radiator

Radiator and Bearing Block Removal

Remove the 'E' bolts from grill panel 'F'

Pull the back side of the radiator away from the machine and backward to work the radiator assembly out of the machine

Loosen the bolts holding bearing block 'G'

Remove the hose from the squeegee tool, install the vacuum gauge adapter in the hose and tighten the hose clamp.

Start the engine and put the engine speed control switch in HIGH.

Ensure the recovery tank cover is closed tightly.

Hold the waterlift gauge tightly against the adapter with the hole in the side of the adapter sealed air tight. The gauge should read 40 inches.

Is the gauge reading within 10% of 40 inches?

If the reading is below specs, check for a damaged gasket or a hole in one of the vacuum hoses or in the drain hose.
