5.2 Estimate zinc anode replacement intervals

Remove, weigh, and reinstall one or more of the exterior zinc anodes before starting up the pump

After two months, remove and weigh the same zinc anode or anodes again

Enter the lapsed time in days between the initial and second weighing

Enter the anode weight loss in grams

Calculate the anode consumption rate (days/gram)

Calculate future replacement intervals based on the selected fraction of zinc remaining (0.25–0.50)

Check for liquid in the stator housing

Inspect components if liquid was found

Ensure the oil is medical white oil of paraffin type that fulfills FDA 172.878 (a) and viscosity close to VG32

Allow the chamber to de-pressurize before removal of the plug

Place the pump in a horizontal position and unscrew the oil plug

Does the pump have a hole with the markings 'oil out'?

Place a container under the pump and turn the pump

Verify replacement of key components

Replace support and main bearings

Recommend intervals for periodical inspection and overhaul

Was the inspection performed within the first year of operation?
