1 Monthly Fire Extinguisher Inpsection
Initial Placement Inspection
Ensure extinguisher is in its designated place
Has the extinguisher been actuated or tampered with?
Check for any obvious physical damage or condition preventing operation
Periodic Inspection
Verify the following conditions
Determine fullness by weighing or hefting
Examine for obvious physical damage, corrosion, leakage, or clogged hose and/or nozzle

Preparation
Ensure the extinguisher is completely empty and depressurized
Disassembly
Remove the hose assembly or nozzle
Invert extinguisher and discharge all remaining expellent gas
Remove the valve and syphon tube from the cylinder by rotating counter clockwise
Mark valve and cylinder if servicing more than one unit
Remove the chemical residue by inverting the cylinder
Detach syphon tube from valve with counterclockwise rotation
1 Yearly Fire Extinguisher Maintenance
Pre-Maintenance Preparation
Ensure availability of servicing manual, proper tools, recharge materials, lubricants, and Strike First O.E.M. replacement parts.
Ensure spare extinguishers of the same type and at least an equal rating are available for replacement.
Cleaning and Inspection
Clean extinguisher to remove dirt, grease, or foreign material.
Check that the instruction nameplate and UL/ULC manifest are securely fastened and legible.
Inspect the cylinder for corrosion, abrasion, and dents.
Is hydrostatic testing required based on cylinder condition?
