Ensure the drive on the supply fan is set in the middle of the RPM range

Adjust the drive motor sheave pitch diameter for required airflow

Replace the variable pitched motor sheave with a properly-sized fixed sheave

Verify benefits of fixed sheave installation

Ensure the unit is turned off before starting the filter replacement

Verify that the air filter is installed in the return air system

Remove the old air filter from the unit

Inspect the filter slot for dust and lint build-up

Is there any dust or lint build-up in the filter slot?

Clean the filter slot if dust or lint is present

Disconnect thermostat wires from terminals Y and W

Place a jumper wire across terminals R and G at TB1 terminal block

Close disconnect switch to operate evaporator fan motor

Measure the actual RPM using a tachometer or strobe light

Is the measured RPM within the specified range in Appendices A and B?

VL, VM, & 2VP Variable Pitch Key Type Motor Sheaves

Check alignment and parallelism

Loosen set screw 'B' using a 5/32" Allen key

Adjust sheave pitch diameter for desired speed (half or full turns from closed position)

Tighten set screw 'B' securely over flat

Carefully put on belts and adjust belt tension

Ensure all components are secure before starting drive

Check compressor RLA against Appendix B values

Is the RLA draw significantly lower than Appendix B values?

Is the RLA draw slightly exceeding Appendix B values?
