Disconnect & lockout the compressor from the power source (electric models) or disconnect the spark plug wire from the spark plug (gas engine models).

Is the compressor stored in a heated area if subjected to freezing temperatures?

Reduce the air pressure in the tank to 30 PSIG by pulling the pressure relief valve ring.

Slowly open the drain valve to allow the moisture and air mixture to drain from the tank.

Close the drain valve once the moisture has been completely drained.

Place a straightedge against the face of the flywheel, touching its rim at two places

Is the belt running parallel to the straightedge?

Adjust the motor pulley so that the belt runs parallel to the straightedge

Use a wheel puller to move the motor pulley on the shaft

Inspect for oil, grease, nicks, or burrs

Clean or replace components if necessary

Ensure components are securely fastened

Check pulley alignment with compressor sheave

Ensure drive belt grooves are in line with each other

Verify compressor crankshaft is parallel to motor or engine drive shaft

Inspect valve plates and reed valves for damage or wear

Soak the entire valve assembly in a clean safety solvent

Clean valve plates and reed valves with a stiff bristle brush

Ensure no flammable or toxic solvents are used

Follow safety solvent directions

Use new gaskets when servicing the valves

Hydrostatical Air Tank Inspection

Inspect air tank at scheduled intervals

Measure tank wall thickness at several locations

Record any deviations from recommended inspection intervals

Document compliance with federal, state, or local codes
