Hydrostatical Air Tank Inspection

Inspect air tank at scheduled intervals

Tank Wall Thickness Measurement

Measure tank wall thickness at multiple locations

Is the tank wall thickness within acceptable limits?

Record any deviations or issues found during inspection

Ensure compliance with federal, state, or local codes

Disconnect & lockout the compressor from the power source (electric models) or disconnect the spark plug wire from the spark plug (gas engine models).

Is the compressor stored in a heated area if subjected to freezing temperatures?

Reduce the air pressure in the tank to 30 PSIG by pulling the pressure relief valve ring.

Slowly open the drain valve to allow the moisture and air mixture to drain from the tank.

Close the drain valve once the moisture has been completely drained.

Ensure the compressor is installed in a secure and upright position in a clean, dry, well-lighted, and adequately ventilated area

Ensure sufficient space is provided around the compressor for safe inspection, cleaning, and maintenance

Read and understand the Pre-starting Checklist and Initial Starting & Operating sub-sections

Make a general overall inspection of the unit and correct any unsafe situations

Ensure all fasteners and fittings are tight

Inspect compressor equipment for damage during shipment.

If damage is found, describe the damage and actions taken.

Preparation for Moving Equipment

Ensure adequate lifting equipment is available.

Follow good shop practices and safety procedures when moving the unit.

Verification of Equipment Specifications

Read the compressor nameplate to verify the model and size ordered.

Read the motor nameplate to verify volt, phase, and hertz ratings match the power supply.
