Inspect compressor equipment for damage during shipment

If damage is found, describe the inspection demanded from the carrier and the claim process

Ensure adequate lifting equipment is available

Verify Equipment Specifications

Read the compressor nameplate to verify the model and size ordered

Read the motor nameplate to verify volt, phase, and hertz ratings

Is the motor suitable for the electrical power supply?

Read the pressure relief valve nameplate to ensure it does not exceed working pressure

Check lubricant levels for QT-5, QT-7.5 & QT-10

Check lubricant levels for all other models

Drain drop legs and traps in air distribution system

Perform overall visual inspection of compressor

Ensure safety guards are in place

Check for any unusual noise or vibration

Lubricant Pressure Check (QR Models only)

Place a straightedge against the face of the flywheel, touching its rim at two places

Is the belt running parallel to the straightedge?

Adjust the motor pulley so that the belt runs parallel to the straightedge

Use a wheel puller to move the motor pulley on the shaft

Ensure compressor is installed in a secure and upright position

Verify area is clean, dry, well-lighted, and adequately ventilated

Ensure sufficient space around the compressor for inspection and maintenance

Have you read and understood the Pre-starting Checklist and Initial Starting & Operating sub-sections?

Daily Inspection and Maintenance

Make a general overall inspection of the unit and correct any unsafe situations

Ensure all fasteners and fittings are tight

Check lubricant level in crankcase

Review recommended air tank inspection intervals

Refer to federal, state, or local codes for mandatory air tank maintenance information

Tank Wall Thickness Measurement

Measure tank wall thickness at the lowest point

Measure tank wall thickness at multiple locations

Record any observations or anomalies found during inspection

Is the tank wall thickness within acceptable limits?
