Pour oil directly into the cruet, not into the elbow of the oil-filler or bearing frame plug

Record the bearing frame oil bath temperature

Is the bearing frame oil bath temperature below 60°C/140°F?

Is the bearing temperature below 85°C/185°F?

Check for potential causes of overheating

Measure the oil viscosity at 40°C/104°F

Is the oil viscosity between 46 and 100 centistokes?

Ensure the pump is turned off and cooled down

Gather necessary tools and materials (oil, oil-cruet, etc.)

Remove the vent plug of the bearing frame

Dispose of the exhausted oil following current regulations

Pour oil into the bearing frame through the hole of the plug until oil is visible in the oil-filler elbow

Is the pump operating without abnormal vibrations or noises?

Check the alignment and conditions

Check the flow of auxiliary supply lines

Ensure the pump is completely stopped before handling

Drain the pump or close the pipes using a valve to prevent sudden rotation

Wait for the pump to cool to avoid contact with high temperature surfaces

Disconnect the power supply and any other connections

Ensure power supply is restored only by the maintenance operator

Ensure the presence of at least two operators during maintenance

Inform the foreman that maintenance is in progress

Use appropriate protective devices

Record the total working hours of the seal

Has the mechanical seal exceeded its normal life span of 4000 hours?

Is the mechanical seal being replaced?

Check the condition of the shaft sleeve

Is the shaft sleeve damaged or doubtful?

Replace the shaft sleeve if necessary
