Check for leaks in the following areas

Is there any escaping gear oil or traces of oil on the exterior or underneath the gear unit?

Are the radial shaft seals showing signs of wear or ageing?

Is there any foreign matter or excess temperature affecting the radial shaft seals?

Clean the gear unit if leaks are suspected, avoiding acetone or benzol-based cleaning agents.

Check and record the oil level.

Ensure the gear unit is at a standstill and has cooled down

Provide protection against accidental activation

Is the oil temperature between 10 °C to 40 °C?

Oil Level Check for Gear Units with Oil Level Screw

Unscrew the oil level screw corresponding to the mounting position

Did a small amount of oil escape during the first check?

Is the oil level at the lower edge of the oil level hole?

Check for unusual running noises

If unusual noises or vibrations are detected, contact NORD Service department immediately

Ensure operating temperature is up to 80 °C

Use protective equipment to prevent burns

Place a collection vessel under the oil drain screw or the oil drain tap

Screw out the oil level screw (if present) and the oil drain screw

Screw out the screw plug with dipstick if using an oil reservoir tank

Completely drain the oil from the gear unit

Ensure the gear unit is stopped and secured against accidental start-up.

Verify that the recommended grease Petamo GHY 133N - Klüber Lubrication is available.

Check for any signs of contamination in the existing grease.

Remove old grease from the bearings.

Apply new grease to the bearings using the recommended grease.

Was the lubrication process completed without mixing different greases?
