Ensure the gear unit is at a standstill and has cooled down

Provide protection against accidental activation

Is the oil temperature between 10 °C to 40 °C?

Oil Level Check for Gear Units with Oil Level Screw

Unscrew the oil level screw corresponding to the mounting position

Did a small amount of oil escape during the first oil level check?

Is the oil level at the lower edge of the oil level hole?

Adjust the oil level with the corresponding oil type if too low

Ensure the machine is powered off and locked out

Gather necessary tools and materials (including PETAMO GHY 133N grease)

Remove the old radial shaft seal

Inspect the shaft for wear or damage

Fill the space between the sealing lip and the protective lip approximately 50% with PETAMO GHY 133N grease

Install the new radial shaft seal ensuring it does not run in the old wear track

Ensure the gear unit is stopped and secured against accidental start-up.

Verify that the recommended grease (Petamo GHY 133N - Klüber Lubrication) is available.

Ensure no foreign substances are present in the working area.

Check if the current grease is approved by Getriebebau NORD.

Is the grease free from contamination?

Apply the recommended grease to the bearings.

Ensure operating temperature is up to 80 °C

Use protective equipment to prevent burns

Place a collection vessel under the oil drain screw or the oil drain tap

Screw out the oil level screw (if present) and the oil drain screw

Screw out the screw plug with dipstick if using an oil reservoir tank

Completely drain the oil from the gear unit

Is the gear unit producing unusual running noises?

Is the gear unit experiencing unusual vibrations?

Contact NORD Service department if unusual noises or vibrations are detected.
