Select the appropriate grease for fan bearing lubrication

Are all guards in place if lubrication is performed while the fan is operating?

Add grease to the fan bearings while running the fan or rotating the shaft by hand

Was just enough grease added to cause a slight purging at the seals?

Refer to your motor manufacturer's installation and maintenance manual for motor bearing lubrication information and note any specific instructions

Ensure the environment is clean and within the temperature range of -20°F. to 120°F.

Is the fan mounted horizontally?

If the fan is mounted vertically, note the increased lubrication frequency

Replace worn ceramic-felt shaft seals

Lubricate lip-type shaft seals with 'NEVER-SEEZ' or other anti-seize compound

Schedule lubrication in accordance with the bearing lubrication table on page 5

Ensure electrical supply is disconnected and locked out

Check all setscrews and bolts for tightness

Refer to the corresponding table for correct torques

Recheck setscrews after operation

Refer to Table 1 for wheel setscrew torques

Refer to Table 2 for bearing setscrew torques

Shut down the fan if there is a sudden increase in vibration

Ensure electrical supply is disconnected and locked out

Check the V-belt drive for proper alignment and tension

Check belt tension with a tensioning gage

Adjust belt tension using the motor slide base

Inspect for excessive tension or insufficient tension

Replace worn belts as a matched set

Check sheave alignment with a straightedge

Check for damaged or missing guards

Ensure all moving parts have guards installed

Check setscrews and bolts for tightness

Inspect for loose items or debris

Turn the wheel by hand to check for binding
